CLASS B TEAMS WISHING TO REGISTER
INDIVIDUALLY, PLEASE NOTE:
In order to be classified as a 'B' team in
Massachusetts, you must still complete the Class 'B' Travel registration
form in its entirety even if you are registering individually. Payment
is to be based on the invoice printed
through the ASA software. Do not include the fee on the Class 'B'
registration form as this fee is already included in the invoice amount.
If you have any questions, please e-mail me.
2008 INDIVIDUALLY REGISTERED TEAMS,
PLEASE NOTE:
You will be able to register your team for the 2009 season starting
after December 1, 2008. When you register, please use the 2009 ASA
programs and not the 2008 ASA programs.
On November 15, 2008, the MAJOASA will be releasing all the players and
coaches from their VTD rosters in order to prepare for the 2009 season.
Teams are urged to go into their rosters and print them out so you can
have a copy of your player's registration numbers. You can use these to
set up your 2009 rosters without having to key in all the player
information again.
This also facilitates players that move from one team in 2008 to another
team in 2009

What is Individual Registration?
As the National Governing Body for the sport of softball, ASA/USA
Softball is committed to the goal of providing accident and liability
insurance for all participants in the Junior Olympic (youth) program.
The only way this can be accomplished is to individually register each
participant in the program, including players, managers, coaches,
assistance coaches and scorekeepers. Most other National Governing
Bodies of youth sport programs individually register their participants,
mainly for the insurance benefits individual registration provides.
Therefore, to ensure that our youth players receive the insurance
protection they need, ASA/USA Softball will be converting to individual
registration (as opposed to team registration) for the Junior Olympic
Program. Individual Registration will also be available to Adult teams
and leagues in certain areas. Each individual registrant will receive
the following benefits:
Insurance
* $2,000,000 Liability Insurance, plus
$250,000 Excess Accident Medical Insurance. The Excess Medical Expense
Insurance may be subject to a per injury deductible
and applies to accident medical treatment
incurred up to 52 weeks after the date of injury.
* Coverage follows the individual throughout the
calendar year for all ASA/USA Softball activities, even if you change to
another ASA/USA Softball team.
* Coverage extends to the team as an insured entity if
all team members register individually.
* Coverage extends to the leagues as an insured
entity, as well as to league officers, if all league members register
individually.
Why is Individual Registration better than Team Coverage?
* Insurance cost is much less expensive. If a
team carries less than 16 players on their roster, your league/team will
save money with $250 deductible insurance.
* The coverage follows the player when he/she
participates on any ASA registered team. The team is covered while
playing in any amateur softball activity.
* An ASA individually registered player receives both
$2,000,000 per occurrence of General Liability coverage and $250,000 of
Accident/Medical coverage.
There is also a separate $2,000,000 Sexual Abuse
Liability Limit per occurrence.
How does JO Individual Registration Compare to Team Coverage?
* Individual Registration includes the same
benefits as Team Coverage, but at a lower cost.
* If all players in a league are individually
registered, then the interests of the League and all of the league
officers are automatically covered at no additional cost.
* The coverage follows the players if they play as a
team in a non-ASA sanctioned event.
Coverage Warning
* One of the most important coverage is
Sexual Molestation and Abuse Liability
* Both ASA Insurance plans, Individual Registration
and Team, have a separate $2,000,000 limit for Sexual Molestation and
Abuse Liability
* Do not accept a policy that excludes or gives a low
sub limit for this important coverage
